The Journey back Home....

On Sunday, 9 November 2008, the last of my grand parents went home. It was nothing to be sad about, as we all know that she is in a much better place now. Having reach an age of 100 years old is a great accomplishment. Bring up 10 children with many great grand children running around now. I'm sure she is happy.

The procession on Sunday was a Taoist on as one of my uncles was in charge of the whole arrangement. But I'm sure that she is in heaven with the Lord as she has already accepted Jesus as her Saviour. The arrangement for the funeral was solely handled by my uncle who in total I heard spent $20,000.00.

It was the grandest I've ever witness. With all the traditional chinese band, flower girls, big association banners, big head dolls and a walking party of almost 200 hundred people. The head of the procession was about 800 meters in front of the casket with 3 buses and 5 cars tagging along behind. In total I estimated the length of the procession to be about 1KM long.

I'm appreciating this as a chinese, as part of our culture and traditions.

Here are some photos to let you have a feel.

Taking photos at funerals is no longer a no-no... These are memories to keep too...

Crowds gather as a grand procession like this rarely happens these days

The leader is now at the overhead green sign board

And the last car is somewhere behind the last chartered SBS bus.
